Chris and Jenn Thomas met at church while in college in Raleigh, NC. They dated for a couple of years and then got married in 1998. They have been married for eight years this past August. In 2004, they had their first child, a son. They named him Bryce Jackson Thomas. He was named after Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyoming. Chris and Jenn both have a love of traveling, camping and visiting national parks. Before leaving, they were also greatly involved in their church, Good Hope Baptist Church, in Cary, NC. Between them, they enjoy photography, music, sports, reading, movies, scrapbooking, graphic design, animals, outdoor activities and spending time with family, especially Bryce. They have also developed a huge interest in Volkswagens. Jenn's parents had several VW's that she enjoyed as a child, and of course, wanted a Bug as her first car. When Chris and Jenn were married, Jenn expressed an interest in getting a VW bus. Chris didn't know the first thing about them, but searched and found a 1971 bus while Jenn was planning the wedding, miles away on the coast. He bought it for her and since then, has become hooked. They have now had a total of seven VW's. Currently they own three: a 1966 Westy Weekender; a 1971 Westy camper that is a project; and the 1987 Vanagon that they are driving currently on the trip. They love to camp at bus campouts and meet fellow bus drivers. Chris has a B.S. degree in Textile Science with a concentration in Textile Design from North Carolina State University. Jenn has a B.S. degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Meredith College. Both colleges are in Raleigh, NC. Since graduation, Chris has started, owned and operated three successful businesses. The most recent have been Latenight Creative, a graphic design firm (for the past 5 years), and Cary Shirt Shack, a screen printing company (for the past year and a half). Jenn most recently worked as a dog obedience trainer with Start Them Right, Inc, but by and large has stayed at home to raise their son Bryce. In October 2006, they sold their house, stored their belongings and outfitted their Vanagon for travel across the USA. They are currently on the road living out their dream.
